Random photos

Over the last week or so I have not had much time to take photos (been trying to get this website up and running again) but I did manage to get a few shots in last night at dinner and today at the Fish Market and in Glebe. So here are a few shots that I thought I would share.

These were taken with my Nikon D60 and the Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8. Some of the photos in this gallery used the Phottix Duo Cord + Nikon SB-400 combination as well.

On another note, my venerable Nikon F80D is out on loan again, this time accompanied by my Tamron SP 28-205mm f/2.8 and my Nikkor AF-D 28-80mm. This means my current gear status is….

Promised Pictures: AI 135mm f/2.8 and Tokina 10-17mm Fish Eye

As mentioned before (herehere and here) I have finally gotten around to taking a few pictures of my new toys, the AI Nikkor 135mm f/2.8 and the Tokina AT-X DX 107 AF 10-17mm Fisheye. Since my Nikon D300 is away (yet again…refer here) so the Fuji S5 Pro has been pressed into service. The gear used?

  • 75cm x 75cm x 75cm light tent (sorry I have to iron the backgrounds but couldnt be bothered this morning)
  • SB-800 and SB-600 (at 45 deg to light the light tent, controlled using CLS)
  • Sigma 180mm macro, Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8, Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8

I got carried away and did some more images of my other lenses as well.

New Photos: Fashion and Food

I just thought I would share some pictures that I have taken recently. This first set was taken during a Breakfast meeting at Badde Manors (Glebe) with my trusty little Fujifilm FinePix F100fd. I have to admit that the food was as good as it looked.

Here are some pictures from today, I went for a walk around Darling Harbour, visiting the Brazilian Festival before heading over for a roam of the Rocks.  Once again I found myself with the wrong set up (it seems to be a happening a lot more often these days when I decide to go for a roam) having brought the Sigma 180mm macro instead of the Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 VR, however I did manage to get some decent shots with the Sigma used as a telephoto (one of the key reasons why I picked the Sigma 180mm over the Tamron 180mm – the slightly faster AF speed).

New Pictures: Bondi Waverly Cliff Walk, Fish Markets and Alley Cabaret

I just thought I would share some of my latest pics, these sets are more personal outings than planned shoots.

I took a stroll along the cliffs from Bondi Beach to Waverly Cemetery, shooting along the way. I mainly used the D60 and the Nikkor AF-D 50mm f/1.8. There are also a few shots taken at Centennial Park from earlier that day.

Alley Cabaret concluded their 2009 series with an Arabian Nights themed performance. Although I was not the designated photographer I was present and took a few pics with my trust D300 and 50mm f/1.8 and a few with the Tamron 70-300. The difference between kicking back to watch the show and being there on the job is huge. I prefer to be kicking back, even if the photos are not so great.

Today I spent the day at the Fish Markets, and having brought the D60 along with the Tamron SP 17-50mm I could not resist but to snap a few pics of the produce.

Catepillars and Gargoyles

Just some pictures that I took at the end of last month for an April Fool’s joke that didnt happen and for a themed competition. Not my best work but I thought I would share. These were taken using my S5 Pro.

New Pics!!! Sorry for the lack of activity…

I have to apologise for the lack of activity lately, I have had little time to shoot, and even less time to post photos up. But here are a few sets, two from the last few days and a set that has been sitting waiting for upload for awhile.

Today USYD PhotoSoc went on their first shooting Mini-meet, down to the Rocks (Sydney, Aust). Although the Rocks is so photographed there seems to be little to left to capture, if you look hard enough there is always something.

Last night I finally went out night shooting again, this time in the company of a Canon wielding friend. We lugged the Manfrotto’s (Bogen for the American’s) up to Observatory Hill and were rewarded with a slightly different take on the Coathanger (Sydney Harbour Bridge). I didnt get much from the night but it was good to catch up with a friend.

This last set is from our trip down to Jervis Bay at the beginning of the month. We headed down via Bald Hill Lookout and caught the hang gliders. We went snorkelling where my Fuji F100fd + WP-FXF100 got another workout. We finished the trip with a dolphin cruise.

O-week, last day…more pics

It has been an epic week at USYD with O-week rolling along like an unstoppable machine. Here are some of the pictures I took on the last day. It makes me sad to see this festival come to an end, as it significes another year of work ahead.

Recent Pics

Photographically I have not been very active lately but here are a few of the images that I have managed to sneak over the last few weeks.

I have been busy helping USYD Photosoc prepare for its 2009 O-Week recruitment drive

Sydney Festival Opening Night…10 Jan 2009

The opening of Sydney Festival 2009 saw a massive free festival of live music acts and performances at key venues in the city CBD. I decided to get out there and enjoy the night, bringing with me a small kit (not small enough as it turns out) to take pictures of the festivities. Here are some of my better pictures from the night.

Underwater Photography!!

Today i went snorkelling (the first time for me, but I have been scuba diving before) and I took my new toy (see post below). Although the conditions were not optimum for either photography or snorkelling, I managed to get a few random shots too share.

The snorkelling was fun, but the price was high (I lost my brand new mask and snorkel!!). Hopefully there will be plenty of underwater photos to come!
