Month in Review: December 2017

Posted by on Feb 9, 2018 | No Comments

Hopefully everyone has had a safe and happy silly season, and now that 2018 is already starting to escape us, we are all falling back into the reality of life.

Catching up a little as I have been away and travelling over most of December. Not too much to share but here are a few images from December 2017. It is probably best to check out my 365 Project for a better over view as most of the images for December have come from my Bavarian adventures.

As always click through for more and larger.

Film: Square Format Fun – Ektar

Posted by on Oct 13, 2017 | No Comments

Some images from the archive, it appears that I have lots of film that has not been shared. Here are some of the missed rolls taken with the Hasselblad 503CX.

First up is a roll of Kodak Ektar 100 from August 2015. These were taken in the Blue Mountains and on a road trip out away from Sydney.

Then there is another roll from October 2015. These images were taken before the light rail construction began, there aren’t many images but here are a few.

Sublime Point August 2017

Posted by on Oct 1, 2017 | No Comments

Just realised that I have been neglecting this blog, almost as much as I have been neglecting taking photos. Anyhow, here are some images taken up at Sublime Point in the Blue Mountains. The Nikon D700 did the hard work, funny how a camera that is almost 10yrs old as a model still holds up so well.

Travelling Light – HK, Macau, China June-July 2017

Posted by on Aug 18, 2017 | No Comments

Warning, this is another image heavy post.

This was a trip I was both looking forward to as well as dreading. It was a mix of work and play for both myself and my partner. On top of this we had a rather active itinerary with some legs of the journey being organized by family over in China. I decided to travel light, very light. My kit for the trip was:

  • Sony A6000 + SELP1650
  • Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D + Novoflex Nikon F (G) > NEX adapter
  • Olympus Mju II
  • Leofoto MT-01 tripod + LH-25 ball head
  • Acer Aspire Switch 10E + Startech card reader
  • ThinkTank Retrospective 6

The idea was that everything had to fit into the Retro 6 which I was using as a carry on bag. This decision proved to be a very good one as I was able to handle both my luggage and my partner’s luggage when necessary. The Acer Switch 10E was a good solution for checking email, and backing up images. The combination of a 128GB microSD in the top half and a 500GB HDD in the keyboard meant that the little Switch allowed me to keep two copies of all the images I took. The Leofoto MT-01 + LH-25 tripod kit is a lot smaller than what I would carry, it is a table top tripod, but it proved to its worth plenty of times; allowing me to get images that I would not have, especially at Victoria Harbour and on waterfront in Shanghai. It also proved to be very useful in restaurants and bars.

Travelling light was a great idea, it allowed me lots of freedom. Although I did miss fast glass and both ultra-wide and telephoto lenses at times, I am not sure I would have had the same freedom if I had taken my Nikon kit.

So here are a selection of images….click through for MORE.

Film: HK, Macau, China June-July 2017

Posted by on Aug 11, 2017 | No Comments

I mentioned that I was overseas for most of June, and as a treat I am sharing some film images. I was so keen to get these images that these four, yes FOUR, rolls of film jumped the queue and were processed as soon as I came back. In case you were wondering these images were all taken with my Olympus Mju II.

First up there was the only roll of colour film I took with me. Kodak Ektar 100. This was the first roll of film for the trip and it covered both HK and Macau.

Then there was a roll of Fujifilm ACROS 100. This roll was shot in HK, and it felt great just taking images with the little Mju II.

Whilst in HK I visited Camera Film Photo and picked up a few rolls of Berger Pancro 400. This was the first roll for me. Interesting film, nice tones but a little grainy. This roll was shot in China, both Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The last roll was another roll of Pancro 400. This time it was a mix of Hong Kong and Sydney.
